3 - Programming Part 1 - Initial Settings

This CRX e‑learning module walks you through the essential steps for powering on your FANUC CRX collaborative robot, confirming its payload, and navigating the editor screen. These initial setup procedures are critical for safe and efficient robot operation.

To begin, power on the tablet by pressing and holding the button on the top right. Swipe up to locate and launch the Tablet TP app. Then, turn on the controller by switching the breaker on the front panel to the on” position. Upon first startup, the system will guide you through initial setup steps including selecting your region, time zone, and network preferences. You’ll also choose between the touch panel editor and the legacy editor interface.

Once setup is complete, you’ll be prompted to confirm the robot’s payload — a vital safety step that ensures accurate force detection. Enter the default DCS password to proceed. If no tooling is attached, confirm the default payload of 0 kg. You’ll also verify that the robot is not in contact with any objects or personnel before continuing.

After payload confirmation, the editor screen will appear. This interface includes several key components:

  • Menu Button: Access setup and programming options.
  • Status Bar: Displays TP enable status, operation mode, alarms, and active program.
  • TP Enable Button: Toggles teach pendant functionality.
  • Program Timeline & Icons: Visualize and manage program steps.
  • Play Panel: Run or step through programs.
  • Robot Operation Panel: Jog and manually guide the robot.

This video ensures you’re fully prepared to begin programming and operating your CRX robot safely and effectively. In the next module, you’ll learn how to jog and move the robot manually.
