4 - Programming Part 2 - Manual Operation
This CRX e‑learning module introduces two essential methods for moving your FANUC CRX collaborative robot: manual guided teaching and jog operation. These techniques allow users to position the robot safely and precisely during setup and programming.
Manual guided teaching enables users to move the robot by hand. To begin, access the robot operation panel and select the manual guided teaching tab. Choose between light and heavy settings depending on the level of force required. For safety, the enable switch—also known as the dead man switch—must be held in the middle position throughout the operation. This switch is located on the back of the teach pendant and prevents unintended movement.
Users can select different movement modes:
- Free: Move the robot in any direction and orientation.
- Translation: Restricts movement to X, Y, and Z axes.
- Rotation: Allows rotation around the Tool Center Point (TCP), typically located at the end of the gripper.
Jog operation uses the tablet interface to move the robot. First, ensure the teach pendant is enabled by pressing the TP enable button. Then, switch to Cartesian jog mode via the robot operation panel. Use the triad graphic to visualize movement directions and slide the position buttons to move the robot along the X, Y, or Z axes. Orientation buttons allow rotation around these axes.
For more precise control, switch to joint jog mode. This displays individual joint controls (J1 – J6), allowing you to rotate each joint in positive or negative directions.
This module equips you with the foundational skills to safely and accurately position your CRX robot. In the next video, you’ll learn how to create and run robot programs.
