UnitX AI Powered Vision Solution
UnitX provides a highly customizable AI-powered visual inspection solution designed to detect random defects in manufacturing. Our system combines CorteX, UnitX’s industrial AI computing platform, providing the compute and runtime foundation for model training, deployment, real-time inference, and production-system integration, with OptiX, our patented software-defined imaging system, to reveal and detect challenging surface defects that conventional machine vision systems can struggle to identify.
The random and highly variable nature of manufacturing defects presents a significant challenge for traditional rule-based vision systems. Large data sets and false acceptance and rejection are common due to the lack of specific defect detection capability. When these defects do not appear in the same location on every component, traditional vision systems fail. Defects such as scratches, dents, cracks, contamination, and other surface anomalies can vary in shape, size, location, and appearance, while reflective or complex surfaces make reliable imaging even more difficult. UnitX addresses both sides of this challenge. OptiX dynamically controls lighting to reveal difficult-to-see defects, while CorteX uses sample-efficient AI and pixel-level segmentation to identify their precise shape, size, and location. Models can be trained with as few as five defect images, helping manufacturers adapt inspection to new products and defect types more quickly. The result is a scalable inline inspection solution that helps manufacturers reduce quality escapes, minimize false rejects and scrap, and gain production data that can be used to improve quality and yield.
